Nobel prizes are announced every year in October and prizes are distributed every year on Dec. 10. You should memorize the names of the Nobel prize winners to come out successful in PSC, Bank, RRBS and Quiz competitions.

Nobel Peace Prize----- former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Contribution---for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.

Nobel Prize in literature--- Doris Lessing from Britain

Nobel Prize for medicine-- R. Capecchi and Oliver Smithies from U S along with Sir Martin J. Evans from Britain

Contribution--- for groundbreaking discoveries that led to a powerful technique for manipulating mouse genes.

Nobel Prize in physics---- Albert Fert from France and Peter Gruenberg from Germany

Contribution---for discovering a phenomenon that enables computers and digital music players to store reams of data on ever-shrinking hard disks.

Nobel Prize in chemistry --- Gerhard Ertl of Germany

Contribution--for his studies of chemical reactions on solid surfaces, which are key to understanding questions such as why the ozone layer is thinning.

Nobel Prize in Economics---- Leonid Hurwicz, Eric S. Maskin and Roger B. Myerson of U S

Contribution---for having laid the foundations of mechanism design theory.
